Fire danger is high as of June 25, 2025, in Jefferson County. Fires can start easily and spread rapidly; caution advised.

FIRE DANGER UPDATE - Effective June 25, 2025

Due to current atmospheric and field conditions, a DECLARATION OF HIGH FIRE HAZARD is in effect in Jefferson County as of June 25, 2025. This decision is supported by the Jefferson County Fire Marshal, local Fire Chiefs, including Quilcene Fire Rescue, and state and federal partners.

When the fire danger is HIGH, fires can start easily from most causes and small fuels (such as grasses and needles) will ignite readily. Unattended campfires and brush fires are likely to escape. Fires will spread easily, with some areas of high-intensity burning on slopes or concentrated fuels. Fires can become serious and difficult to control unless they are put out while they are still small.

  • Wood or charcoal cooking
  • Yard debris or land clearing burning
  • Open flame devices such as tiki torches, liquid fuel candles, or lanterns
